Chocolate Banana Date Shake

AKA a Healthy Chocolate Milkshake!

Morning, noon, or night, this sweet and icy, thirst-quenching, chocolate-banana date shake will more than satisfy your sweet tooth while also nourishing your body! It’s like drinking a chocolate milkshake but it’s actually full of superfoods that are good for your gut, PLUS it’s so easy, these caramely flavors will be dancing in your mouth in less than 5 minutes!!

My sister and I love making this dessert smoothie when that midnight chocolate craving hits!

Our mom used to make a chocolate banana shake when I was little that tasted just like this recipe! Not only is this Chocolate-Banana Date Shake amazingly delicious, it is also SO good for you! It gives your body vitamins, minerals, and energy in the form of a delicious chocolate banana shake!

What you’ll need!

Here are the ingredients that I NORMALLY use for my Chocolate-Banana Date Shake!

It changes based on what we have, but the first three ingredients are the ones I consistently use and the only ones your truly need!

Here are the suggested ingredients!

  • Bananas
  • Dates
  • Cacao Powder
  • Frozen Pineapple
  • Frozen Strawberries
  • Frozen Cauliflower – it helps thicken your smoothie and adds a healthy, hidden veggie!
  • Hemp seeds
  • Flax seeds
  • Cinnamon
  • Maca or a superfood blend – like this one!
  • Your Favorite Plant Milk – oat & soy milk are my fav!
  • Ice
  • Date Syrup to drizzle inside your glass! Have you every tried date syrup!?

You can modify this recipe as your heat desires!

PLUS One of the most important things about drinking a smoothie is the straw! I love these reusable silicone straws for smoothies!

Organic or non-organic?

I try to use as many organic ingredients as possible to reduce exposure to pesticides and heavy-metals, but NOT everything I use is organic 100% of the time!

It’s all about the majority of what you’re eating and using! When shopping, IF there is an organic option that is affordable for me, I try to get that one, but if there isn’t, then I don’t worry about it and just get the conventional version. 

You are still going to be getting so many nutrients from that food no matter if it’s organic or not.

Healthy Chocolate-Banana Milkshake

Equipment

  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas
  • 4-6 medjool dates, pitted the more ripe the better!
  • 4-6 frozen strawberries
  • 3 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup plant milk I use soy milk!
  • 1 cup ice

Optional but Recommended!

  • ½ cup frozen pineapple
  • ½ cup frozen blueberries
  • cup frozen cauliflower (adds a veggie!)
  • 2 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 2 tbsp flax seeds
  • 2 tsp maca or superfood blend

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a blender except for ice
  • Once the dates and everything else have blended, add the ice and blend for another few seconds!
  • You can drizzle your glass with date syrup if you're feeling fancy! Enjoy!
